Adventure Snail Part 1

Last summer I had a thing for snails and the super slow way they did things.. and the eyes, those weird moving eyes..
Anyways, I went out back and looked for a snail, succeeded, and this is the first part of it's story.

Birds

Time for an update, and since were getting closer to spring, why not a bunch of birds?
The next updates going to be a huge study of a snail I did last year. Really useful for illustration..

Take Off
Behind my house in Oakville there's a stream and bridge. I came home from class one day and there was a family of about 10 ducks. This one swam off to the side and stretched out his wings.

Goose 1-3
A single goose in the Grimsby Harbor. I shot a bunch of great photos here but I'll post them with a link in a later blog.

Sunrise Seagull 1-2
There is a secret little beach area in Grimsby that few people know about. There's an abandoned pier still standing in ruin. I figured one of the best times to go would be at sunrise, so I showed up around 5AM and hung out until about 7AM. It was interesting seeing the sun come over the lake and birds come to life.

Alittle Bit of Everything

I dont really have a theme going tonight, just a bunch of different animals. Though animals count as a theme I guess..
Enjoy!

Angry Bird
I found a baby bluejay that fell out of its nest. I put him back in after I took a few photos.

 Pigeon
This pigeon was hanging out all alone on the train tressel. I got pretty close before he flew off.

Ladybug
Just a ladybug on a rock under the Jordan Vally Bridge. But I like how the red pops against the dull greys and browns behind it.

Hungry Squirrel 1
Hungry Squirrel 2
I watched this squirrel hunt for food for a good half hour with the cats. So nimble and quick, and pretty amusing to watch.

Phoenix

Been a pretty busy day today, finished up a drawing, started another, and finished 3 paintings. Now onto a self portrait and maybe I'll just relax on March break.
Tonight I'm going to post pictures of my cats, because why not? There very photogenic.

 Sleepy Day
Phoenix chilling out enjoying the sun on the rare day its out.

 Welcome Home
I came home after school one day and was greeted by his fuzzy little cat face.

 Tight Fit
Phoenix really wanted to get at these cherries but his head wouldn't fit. Sure was fun to watch though.

 Chilling
Phoenix hanging out on the deck, watching the lake and birds.

Cat's Eye
Close up of Phoenix's eye. Cat eyes are really crazy to look at.

Critters

Its been a long day of drawing, and I'm not done just yet haha. I had to get out of the house for a it though, so me and some buddies saw Identity Thief.. Pretty decent movie. Anyways here's some critters to check out.

Ant Doomsday
Hanging out at my buddy's house having a smoke and we saw this giant pile of ants, and one lone toad eating everything he could.

Salamander 1-3
Hiking through Balls Falls, looking for critters. Under a big flat rock I found this salamander and was going to keep him, but pictures work just as well :)

Still Snowing.. So More Bugs!

Its been snowing here for the past day non-stop, yet surprisingly alot of people came in to eat.. Including a bunch of people who showed up on snowmobiles. True Canadians haha.
Anyways, here's a bunch of photos of bugs to help the warm weather come sooner.

Caterpillar 1
Caterpillar 2
Camping a few summers ago, this little guy landed on my leg. The blues and yellows looked really cool in the sunlight, and it was fun watching it just crawl around.

Millipede 1

Millipede 2
Iv never seen a millipede big enough to see the colours this clearly until I saw this one at Balls Falls.

Centipede
I never liked these things.. just something about the mass amount of legs, and being already flat.. Bugs aren't supposed to come pre-flattened.

Bugss

Its freezing out, but it wont be to long until it gets warm out, and with warmth come bugs... So that's what I'll be posting for a few nights unless this blizzard causes/makes something cooler to post.

Drying Off
I found a bee drying itself in the sun after a random summer rain.

Clinging to Life
When I lived in Oakville I was sitting on my deck and saw a bee by the door crawling around. Being bored, I went to poke it  and saw it was missing its stinger and was pretty much dying. I did what came naturally and grabbed a camera and some honey. It ate the honey (You can see the proboscis sticking out) and lived for a few hours until I went in. Not sure what happened to it....

Flight of the Butterfly
A butterfly landing for some food on this plant. There were a few more but they flew off to quickly.

Caught
Another one from Oakville, and my favourite of the night. I was lucky enough to have my camera out when this spider caught this fly. It was really cool to watch.
